I am a licensed professional counselor with over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. For the last 14 years I have owned and operated my outpatient mental health practice for individuals and couples. Recently, I have focused my professional and personal knowledge and experience as a mother of 5 sons into parent coaching. Parenting is by far the most important job you can ever have. Unfortunately, the mounds of information about what to do or not do is overwhelming and confusing. My goal is to simplify the information and help parents create emotionally safe environments that foster the kind of connection they truly desire. Parenting can be enjoyed daily.

Together we will create your parenting miracle! Yes, miracle. After all, "miracle" is a word to describe restoring something to its rightful state. Parenting is meant to be enjoyed - not just sometimes but daily. Learn how fears and uncertainties are shaping your current parenting experience and how to refocus them to create an emotionally safe environment. Bring clarity to parenting by focusing on accomplishing two main goals. Simplify and streamline discipline. Get on the same page with your partner. Develop the five foundational skills: consistency, nurturing, guidance, listen and talk with easy to achieve objectives.

We will review the details of your current parenting experience and what your ideal experience looks like. Review the goals of parenting, the importance of emotional safety and the necessary skills to develop these.

Assessment

In my experience, it's not skills or knowledge that holds people back from achieving their desired goals it's fear, guilt and self-doubt. So let's get these out of the way. You deserve to have your ideal parenting experience and it's possible. Give yourself permission to let go of the past and move forward in love.

Conquer fears

Consistency is the path to building trust and creating an emotionally safe environment. Learn all the many ways consistency can positively shift your parenting experience. Let's explore how you can incorporate more of it.

Skill 1: Consistency

Nurturing is being able to recognize and meet the needs of yourself and your child. Self-care is the prerequisite to caring for others. When you learn to make time for self-care you will have more patience and capacity to meet the needs of your child. 

Skill 2: Nurturing

It's not your job to control your child. It is your job to lead. Learn how to be the leader and guide your child to acceptable behavior. Discipline is often an area where many parents unintentionally sacrifice emotional safety for resolution. This does not need to be a trade-off. Learn how to simplify and streamline discipline and get on the same page with your partner.

Skill 3: Guidance

Listening to your child is a way of tuning in to your child. This is your doorway into his/her inner world. Learn to listen without attaching to assumptions. Assumptions kill communication and lock you into only knowing the version of your child that feels safe for your child to reveal.

Skill 4: Listen

How you speak to your child is an extension of the respect you have for your child and it will eventually be reflected back to you. It is also a measurement of how trustworthy you are. No environment is emotionally safe without trust. Your word holds the power to build or destroy your parent-child relationship.

Let's see how you've put everything together.  Re-assess where you're at now and how your miracle is growing.

60 Days to a Deeper Parent-Child Connection

Work at your own pace to develop a deep and loving connection with your child. In this single session we will review the included booklet. Your booklet will: condense and simplify what you need to know to identify and conquer barriers to your ideal parenting experience and build the necessary skills to create an emotionally safe environment for you and your child; streamline discipline that eliminates power struggles; get on the same page with your partner. All skills are broken down into small achievable steps. Check back in at any time for another single session or purchase a program for more support.

This is a one-time session (1-1.5 hours) that is designed to get a skeletal perception of your current parenting experience and provide you with tools to point you in the right direction. By the end of the session you will know which of the 5 skills to creating an emotionally safe environment require more development; how to utilize your current strengths to improve your parenting experience; handouts to help you deepen your understanding and knowledge about barriers to your ideal parenting experience and a sample behavior chart if behavior modification is a need.
