Here’s what 6 years as a mental health practitioner taught me:

I have worked in the mental health sector for 6 years with a WHOLE range of populations. From 6-year-old working class children, to elderly middle class people. Long-term 1:1’s, group courses, family sessions. From mental health wards, to charities, to private healthcare. Yet, I saw the exact same patterns across every single individual.

The number 1 thing that contributed to their poor mental health was..

Unprocessed emotions from the past.

Yep. Every. Single. One. **Even the littlest of children. **

There was an event or an experience that they were holding onto that was the starting point of the grief, and after it happened, they just kept going; started developing unhealthy coping habits, their mindset deteriorated and they lost their confidence – blissfully unaware that it was one specific thing that’s caused a domino effect on their wellbeing.

Of course, this ‘one thing’ can actually be a series of turbulent experiences (whether that’s inconsistent parenting, being a carer for a dying loved one, etc.). However, these individuals were presenting to me with usually ‘anxiety and depression’, and it was not until our work together, *they began to connect the dots*. They began to see the links between their beliefs, emotions and their behaviours. They began to notice the vicious cycles they were unconsciously creating.

But let me tell you something, every emotion carries an electrical charge.. 

Every emotion is a type of frequency. By ‘keeping going’ and not processing what’s happening to us on the emotional level, this electrical charge remains in our being. It remains until it is acknowledged and processed. 

Some examples of what this can look like 
**Physical manifestations** – head aches, knots and sore body, stomach aches (sooooo common, especially in experiences that caused anxiety / lack of self-belief), difficulty sleeping – nightmares, light sleep. 
**Mental manifestations** – lack of motivation, feeling stagnant, lack of self-belief, jumping to conclusions 
**Emotional manifestations** – easily reactive, teary, frustrated or depressed, fearful 

I am here to lovingly remind you that there is always a reason - which, while it can be uncomfortable to think about - it is actually a good thing, as this serves as a reminder that there's things that we can do to support ourselves. 

It can feel scary and overwhelming to look back at the past. Our brains naturally want to keep us safe, avoidance almost comes natural to us - so I ask that you don't shame yourself for not wanting to look into what caused whatever you're experiencing - this is your brain's idea of protecting you from the harm. 

And **the even better news**? You’ve already survived and gotten through the difficult thing. You’re now experiencing symptoms as a result of it, but the *worst* of it is behind you - this means that when you are in a space to look into the cycles and patterns, it will not be as scary as the experience itself. 


This is why in my client work now, I incorporate a holistic approach that addresses the energetics of these emotions to clear out what’s being stored within you and make space for new, fresh and loving energy. Through my framework of: inner safety, love, trust and unconditionality, my clients get to experience that going through these emotions does not have to be scary and that **actually** you don't have to look into every dark corner of your being to allow more love and joy into your life.

We’ve misunderstood the whole point of ‘following your purpose’, because we associate this with the things you are going to do when the whole point of purpose is to be.

so let me ask you – what are you? 
deep deep deeeeep down, before you were conditioned into dampening down your interests because ”they don’t pay well” or before you took the ”safe” route because the fight or flight response just got too much at even the thought of following your deepest desires.

You are so many things. You cannot be put in a box. You can be so many things at once. We are walking contradictions. My biggest contradiction is that I do not take anything seriously yet I’ve had to spend years learning to understand sarcasm because if you tell me that mosquitoes made ”a dog’s dinner” out of your legs, I will ask you ”oh wow, how so?”. The fact that I do not take anything seriously means I will cry laughing when something bad happens and then laugh even more because I know it’s not the time and the place for laughter, yet I care and love so deeply because I want everyone that is in my presence to feel loved and accepted.

We are all walking contradictions, because we can be so many opposing things at once – which I believe is the true beauty of human nature btw, it shows how adaptable we can be. We are a lot more like water than we think. You know when you pour water from one container into another, how it just fits in perfectly despite the different shapes of containers? Water is symbolic for emotion and intuition, which are at the essence of our existence. Your emotion and intuition can tell you a lot about what feeeeels right and what you are, what you can be.

The moon cycle is about 28 days, if you are someone that menstruates you will have a cycle of approx. 21-31 days give or take. On every 1st day of the month, the moon and your cycle will be at different stages, every. single. month. No 1st of the month will be the same. This is because we are ever-changing beings, we are so many different contradicting things, and that is why we cannot be put in a box. We like to get into a box, because it makes it easier for others to make sense of who we are, using their preconceived ideas of whatever label you have opted for.

You cannot put your ‘purpose’ in a career box and expect to feel satisfied with the route you have chosen because you are following your purpose. You are not to ‘follow’ your purpose. Your purpose is already there within you, because you are a spiritual being experiencing a human existence and the purpose of your human existence is to be.

So instead of trying to ‘find’ or ‘follow’ your purpose? How can you re-connect with your purpose? So that you can BE your purpose.

Your purpose is to be all that you are deep inside. The most raw unfiltered freaky (in all senses of the word) version of you. It’s that dust-covered sensation in your stomach that’s poking away at you waiting for you to start being you. It’s that thing that makes you come to life. That’s your authentic self, your authentic self is your purpose. Once you know what this authentic version of you is you can then choose how you are going to express this version of you – or in other terms, what are you going to do with this version of you?

Your purpose can be so many things. It can be to feel so deeply and support others and at the same time it can be to be a rule-maker and a strict organiser. You can express this purpose in so many different ways, this is why ‘playing it safe’ by staying in one career because it’s all you’ve known will continue to dampen you down. When you truly follow the purpose of what you are, you are always guided and supported by the universe and series of ‘coincidences’ where things just work out. Like the fact I had no idea what kind of work I was going to be doing over summer to bring in more consistent income and then I coincidentally got chatting to a lovely business friend who mentioned a teaching job in Italy over the 3 months of summer. I applied straight away, I got it, I’m going in less than a month.

When you make the move that does not make sense (following your purpose will NOT make sense because intuition / spiritual existence goes beyond logic), the world moves with you.
